Tookies Toys place shutting

Raleigh eccentric fondle store Tookies Toys is shutting one of the dual locations.

The store in Falls Village off of Falls of Neuse Road is carrying a going-out-of-business sale. The last day of commercial operation there will be Feb. 28

Katherine Hodges, who owns the 5-year-old store with her husband, John, pronounced her franchise at the core was up and she chose not to renew.

"When we initial changed to that selling center, they were full and there were lots of featured item tenants," she said. "Then one by one they left and afterwards we lost the anchor [Fresh Market], and afterwards last year was only not the most appropriate year for sales."

However, the strange Tookies store in Cameron Village will sojourn open, Hodges said.
